Affectionately known as ‘The Twig Lady’, Maggie Longworth passed away peacefully on January 30th, 2018 at her family home in Gooderham, surrounded by family and loved ones. Maggie fought courageously but lost her battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 66. Maggie was a brilliant artist, craftsperson and nature lover who was often found in her workshop teaching students to create their own designs from sticks and bark. Maggie will be remembered with love by her husband of 46 years, Steve Longworth, her daughter Sajo Miscio, her son Jesse Longworth, her brothers and sisters, numerous extended family and friends and her dog Buddy.
Celebration of Life & Reception
A celebration of Maggie’s life will be held in the Spring of 2018. Details of the celebration are still being finalized and will be made available to close family and friends as soon as possible. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in memory of Maggie be made to the Patterson Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (www.ccnm.edu/patterson-institute). In addition, a memorial fund called Team Maggie (www.teammaggie.ca) has been created in order to provide on-going financial support for cancer patients in need at the Whole Life Naturopathic Clinic located in Barrie, ON, where Maggie received her cancer treatment and care.
